Barnes
and Nobles Book Store sponsors a children's reading club. When the subject
matter of the club featured VIKINGS, we came to add some realism to the
printed page.
We
came and brought Skelmir, weapons, crafts and authentic clothing right
down to the handmade shoes
We
talked about the ship and it's importance to the spread of the Viking
culture, how it affected world history, and how much of that culture still
survives today.
We
each spoke, relating historical accounts of Viking travels, economy, technology
of weapons and how the unique ships enabled the Vikings to trade from
modern Turkey, all through Europe, western Russia, all shores of the Mediterranean,
and to North America 500 years before Columbus
